MOTS-C — Research Compound MOTS-C (Mitochondrial Open Reading Frame of the 12S rRNA Type-C) is a 16-amino acid mitochondrial-derived peptide encoded within the mitochondrial 12S rRNA gene. It represents a novel mechanism of mitochondrial- nuclear communication, linking cellular energy status to gene expression

Mechanism of Action- Activates the AMPK pathway via inhibition of the folate-AICAR cycle. - Translocates to the nucleus under metabolic stress to regulate gene expression through NRF2 binding. - Targets skeletal muscle, liver, and adipose tissue with high tissue specificity. - Restores metabolic flexibility and enhances mitochondrial function.

Pharmacokinetics- Excellent subcutaneous bioavailability. - Age-related plasma decline noted, suggesting therapeutic potential in aging and metabolic disorders. - Investigational analog: CB4211, under study for hepatic steatosis.
